Empower!
Gordon Roberts House empowers teachers by meeting core standards. We also provide the teacher with a packet of information to prepare the students for the visit.  Activities for after the visit are suggested with classroom and individual projects and at-home research. Teachers will find that these creative and fun learning activities will incorporate social studies, reading, writing, math, physical education and technical components from which they can choose.

Experience
Students are immersed in the day of student in an authentic one room schoolhouse. They will take on the role of a student by doing chores, taking part in the learning process for writing, reading and arithmetic,  playing games, writing on slates, participating in a spelling bee, reciting at the recitation bench and even playing games and eating period food from a lunch pail.  Activities can be modified to meet your classroom needs.

Enlighten
As history comes to life and the students are immersed in the daily activities, they will truly understand the difference between life in 1901 and 2012!  Written material cannot truly convey to the student as deeply as experiencing the life surrounded by authentic objects! Students will walk away enlightened to the differences and similarities of the one room school house and today's modern schools.
